CKM and Israeli Army Fighting System History
Before 1948 the fighting system used by Israeli army was KAPAP (Fighting face to
face).
KRAV MAGA (Contact Combat) was the fighting system used by Israeli army after
1948. Imi Lichtenfeld (the founder of Krav Maga) left Israeli army in
1964.
After 1964 the Israeli army was following Imi’s KRAV MAGA concepts until 1973
when Moni Aizik (officer in Israeli army by that time) was put in charge
of teaching the Israeli soldiers the combat system. Moni Aizik developed
and updated that system into what is now known as Commando Krav Maga (CKM).
CKM was released as a system to be taught to civilians in 2004. Today CKM is
growing and accepted in over 17 Countries World Wide by civilians and also
professionals.
Moni Aizik lives now in Toronto, Canada and he returns to Israel every 6
weeks to continue developing the CKM System directly with the active Israeli
Defense Forces (IDF).
