Alex Ostrouch

Alex is a certified CKM level 3 instructor. He teaches a public class at the London School of Economics and is also available for private lessons. In addition to training in CKM, he is a

member of the UK national fencing team (foil), and competes regularly at the highest

international level. He hopes to fence in the 2012 London Olympics. As a professional athlete,

he has extensive experience in fitness training, and feels that this aspect of CKM training is

just as effective as the cutting edge self defense solutions it offers. Alex would be happy to

"As an ex-Royal Marine Commando with extensive experience as a close protection operative in Iraq, I am pleased to offer my services in Canary Wharf and central London as a Commando Krav Maga instructor.

Originally from Newport in Wales and coming from a boxing family, I naturally started boxing aged nine at schoolboy level before starting martial arts training at eleven years old primarily in kung fu and other chinese arts. I qualified as a REPS Level III personal trainer/sports therapist in 1999 working in Milan, London and Cardiff before joining the the Royal Marines and earning the coveted green beret winning the CTCRM Light-Middleweight Boxing Championship in the process.

My time in the marines instilled in me a confidence and 'never say die' attitude that in hindsight has ultimately saved my life. Never one to remain stagnant I completed the renowned Ronin Concepts Ltd. Hostile Environment Close Protection course in Hereford, England. This led me to the middle east, in particular Iraq. In Iraq I gained first-hand experience of the ugly reality of war and violence in general, losing close friends and colleagues.

Back home in 'civvie street' it was quickly evident that violent crime such as assault, knife attacks and shootings are an everyday occurrence. With this ever increasing threat and due to my close protection work I began asking questions of traditional martial arts. Those questions have been answered by Commando Krav Maga, the ultimate reality based combat system in the world.

I now offer private lessons on an individual basis or in groups of up to six people. By employing this method my students are guaranteed a training session tailored to suit their needs, strengths and natural ability. None of my sessions are the same as I like to use innovative teaching methods so 'expect the unexpected'. The most important factor is that you will find the sessions rewarding, safe and enjoyable thus raising your levels of confidence for daily life.

Matthew Stait

Matt Stait started his martial arts training in the late 80's with amatuar boxing. after many years studying disciplines such as karate, kickboxing and mma he then moved into reality based training becoming an instructor with the british combat association. Matt works full time in the security industry covering roles as diverse as part of the close protection team for the saudi royal family to concert security for bands such as David Grey, Sugerbabes etc. he runs regular classes at the sweatbox gym, Bedminster, Bristol.
